May 09, 2002: Promoting IA

We bitch a lot about how no one values information architects and the work we do. But have we ever asked ourselves what it might take to change that impression? That would seem the first step toward figuring out how to market ourselves more effectively.

Hence, I've put together this very brief (six-question) survey. Would you mind filling it out before Saturday May 11? It should take less than five minutes. I'll share the results later this month. Thanks!

I know this may be simplistic but I've found often the best way to promote IA is to do it. Given a site map, wireframes and a content/production matrix projects that have been difficult or slow to get moving often take off. There are projects I know of that just would not have happened or have been won without the IA/user engineering work.
